Private Fire Truck Tour

So... on our way home from downtown, we stopped and Nana and Papa's to say hi. David and Jaden were there and we were just hanging out and David noticed that the bark dust on the side of the house was black and smoke was coming out of the ground. When you looked closely you could see it smoldering. It was about a 4 foot long section...so Mike and David started shoveling down and pouring water on it. It was really strange and we had no clue what started it. About a half an hour or so later the ground was still really hot to the touch and we didn't know if there was some pipe or electrical thing going on underground, so we call the fire department to ask if we should be concerned, and they said they would come take a look. So luckily they came without any sirens or anything, and just starting watering, digging and pouring soap on the ground. They said that when it is dry out that the mulch can still have moisture in it and it will spontaneously combust...and it happens all the time...oh okay, that is really weird. They were super nice and they let the kids all get in the fire truck, and they explained everything to them, except Cole who was a little intimidated. They kids all thought it was pretty cool, I thought it was pretty random!

I never went on a fire truck tour...let alone a private one! How fun.
